Four most significant cycling achievements?
3rd overall in the FBD Ras, 2 stage wins at the Girvan, representing Wales at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and being part of the winning Tour Series team in ’09.
Best moment on bike?
I could bore you with ‘when I felt so good’, but chatting to Lance in the Tour of Ireland was cool.
Person who has had the most influence on your cycling career and why?
Julian Winn; he taught me that you get out what you put in. John Herety; he taught me professionalism.
Rider you most revere/admire and why?
Paul Manning, smooth as silk and 100% professional.
What was your first ever bike?
A 23 ½ inch frame (which is bigger than I use now), with down tube levers. No idea what the frame was but I loved it!
Your most "impressive" injury?
I’ve had nothing broken (touch wood), but I came down in that massive crash at the Girvan. Flying through the air and hitting the tarmac at 60kph can do some damage!
What is your favourite route?
A ride back in Wales. Starting at my parents house in Cymau, over to Llangollen, Corwen, Bala, around the lake, then back.
If you were not a pro-racer what would you be doing right now?
A high flying businessman wearing a suit everyday.
What is your hidden talent?
Ask my girlfriend.
What is your favourite food?
Welsh Rarebit. I’ve also discovered an amazing beef and Merlot pie from Selfridges; I recommend to anyone!
Do you have a particular lucky ritual before a race or any other quirks or superstitions?
Clean bike, kit, glasses and shoes, and egg and bacon for breakfast.
Whats your aim for 2010 and beyond?
I’d like a stage win in at least one of the UCI races we’re doing, and a few Premier Calendar wins. We’d obviously want the Tour Series as well. Beyond, I’d like to move upwards again all the way to Pro-tour.
What does being in Endura Racing mean to you?
It’s motivating, once again, to ride for a team and a company that have a passion and hunger for the sport and all that surrounds it, which therefore motivates me.
