Bauer powers to win number 2
Kiwi Jack Bauer has wasted no time in 2010 in showing just why he is one of the southern-hemisphere's hottest bike talents, by taking his second pro win in as many weeks. A fortnight after taking the New Zealand Road Race title Jack powered his way to another sprint victory yesterday (31 Jan), in stage 5 of the Tour of Wellington - a 30 minute criterium race around the New Zealand capital in which he managed to lap a quality field.
Speaking afterwards to NZ road cycling site www.roadcycling.co.nz, Bauer credited his win to time spent as a cycle-courier in Wellington and as a top NZ mountain biker, "I spent a year here as a cycle courier and knew all the hot lines", he said delightedly.
Bauer now makes his way to Europe, to join his Endura Racing team- mates as the squad embarks on the first race in its early-season European foray, the Tour of the Mediterranean on the 10th of February.
