IG Markets London Nocturne

Ian Stannard (Team Sky Pro Cycling) won last night's Saint-Gobain Elite Criterium at the IG Markets London Nocturne in front of a huge crowd at Smithfield Market.

Stannard along with team-mate Davide Appollonio instigated an early move and broke clear with Kristian House (Rapha Condor Sharp) and Niklas Gustavsson (Team UK Youth). Ian Bibby was one of those that tried to bridge up the lead group, but after a few laps the ferocious pace  being applied by Stannard saw a significant gap develop.

As the break approached the back of the bunch to lap them, first Gustavsson and then Appollonio were dropped by Stannard and House. Once the catch was made, Stannard quickly moved through to the front of the bunch with House mid-pack. As the race entered the final lap, Stannard jumped clear to win alone.

Jonny McEvoy was best placed of the Endura Racing riders, coming home in 11th place.
