Endura Racing are very pleased to announce Iker Camaño Ortuzar to the squad as we enter the final third of the 2010 season and the build-up to the Tour of Britain. Iker comes to Endura from Fuji-Servetto, and will ride for the team at the forthcoming Paris Corrèze race.

The 31 year-old from the Basque Country is the latest addition to the UK based team and will bring almost a decade of UCI ProTour experience with him. The Spanish rider turned professional in 2002 with Phonak Hearing System and joined Euskaltel-Euskadi in 2004. He then moved to Saunier Duval which later became Fuji-Servetto.

Career highlights include finishing 26th in the Tour de France 2004, 35th in Tour de France 2006, 39th in the Giro d’Italia 2009 and 15th in the Tour of California 2008, where he came 3rd on stage four.

After signing, Iker said:
I’m very satisfied to be joining Endura and I am grateful of this opportunity given to me to return to competition. I hope to return on the road with confidence and will be able to discover a new cycling experience racing in the UK.

Speaking about the signing, and racing plans for the rest of 2010, Endura Team Director Jim McFarlane said:
We set out to be one of the top 3 domestic teams in the UK in 2010 and we seem to have managed that so far but we knew that the team would require further strengthening for 2011 in order to reach our goal of being the premier UK domestic team in 2011 and to be competitive at a European level. Iker is part of that strengthening process and we’re delighted to have him on board. We’ll look forward to getting to know Iker better at Paris Corrèze and the late summer training camp before firming up rider selection for the late season race schedule.
