Wilko wins in Wales!
Ian Wilkinson cemented his lead in the British Cycling Elite Circuit Series with a fine win in the Get Connected Wales Open Criterium in Abergavenny on Friday night.

After wins in the opening two rounds in Dumfries and Otley, Ian had scored an impressive 2nd place behind a hard charging Ed Clancy in Stafford on Thursday, but returned to the top step of the podium in Abergavenny.
Speaking to British Cycling afterwards, a clearly delighted Ian said:
I was pretty active early on and then had a bad patch. I managed to get back to the lead group and then found it quite easy. I could lay off down the back and coast on so it wasn’t too bad. There was a bit of red mist at the end when Kristian took me out the back with five laps to go and I was like you’re not beating me now so I jumped around him and managed to slow it down a bit on the last lap and take control of it.”
“I put myself in the driving seat and that seems to work. I’m very pleased with that win.”
The Elite Circuit Series moves onto Colne this week.
