Ian Wilkinson won tonight's second round of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Race Series in Otley, West Yorkshire on Wednesday.
Endura Racing were active all night, with James Moss, Ian Wilkinson and James McCallum (who won the 2007 British circuit race title in Otley ) all having a go at breaking clear of the peloton as it wound it's way through the small market town, watched by a large, enthusiastic crowd.
In the last few laps, Ian and Kristian House [Rapha-Condor-Sharp] made a move on the back of the circuit and had gained 10 seconds on the bunch with two laps to go. As the pair entered the finishing straight, Ian outsprinted House to take the win in an event that he'd come so close to winning in recent years.
Speaking to British Cycling afterwards, Ian said: That was beautiful. It feels like I have been trying to win this my whole life. Kristian put in two or three big attacks out there but I clawed my back and thought its better to be in front, so I put it in the 11 sprocket and gave it everything.
